a transformation.

Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing…

 endurance, change, hope and life.

I felt it was time for a change. It’s a new year, with new goals. Time to give my little space in the internet world a nice little revamp.  The perfect way reflect my previous accomplishments, my growth and the year ahead!

I thought long and hard about what could symbolize not only the season ahead, but my journey though life thus far…

Training for an Ironman last year left me with this powerful feeling that I can do anything I put my mind to.  It gave me confidence I never knew I had and quite honestly, it transformed me. I cannot help but think of the butterfly when it comes to these feelings. All of a sudden… I have wings.

Here are a few reasons I associate with butterflies…

one. The butterfly feeling you get  in your stomach (and your heart) before a race.  No matter how many triathlons and running races you do in your life, it’s always, always there. You must have the courage to face ‘the butterflies’ head on. It’s amazing what the human body can accomplish.

two. Transformation.  Butterflies are known as a symbol of transformation. This is how I feel about my life as a triathlete.  I am constantly transforming myself into a better athlete, it’s a process that does not happen overnight.  For example, the bike in particular.  Biking does not come easy to me, and I am working on transforming myself into a better cyclist.

three. Caterpillars have courage to turn themselves into a butterfly.

four. My love of nature. I love the outdoors and would spend every day hiking in the mountains if I could.  I wanted a theme and a logo that would also tie in my love of nature, I thought this was perfect.

five. I was able to use the letters of my blog name in the form of a butterfly:) S and C combined together. It’s a way of creating my own identity of sorts in the blogo-sphere. A huge thank you to Andrea at CreativeFoxStudio for the design!

and I leave you with this beautiful message….

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside
and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!

LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
