My Hiking Bucket List

If you read this blog, you know that I love to run and I’m training for an Ironman.  Besides running and triathlons, I am an avid hiker and my heart belongs in the mountains.

Sept 2013 281

My husband and do most of our hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  The ‘Whites’ as we call them, are my favorite place on Earth.  Although I love New Hampshire, there are other places in the US (and Canada) that I have on my ‘hiking bucket list.’  Our dream to to buy an RV one day and set out exploring… I’m not talking just walking around the national parks exploring… I’m talking serious exploring:)

Here are some of my bucket list hike locations:

Zion National Park, Utah

North Cascades, Washington

Glacier National Park, Montana

Mt Katahdin/ Baxter State Park, Maine

Banf, Alberta Canada

If you have been to any of these locations, would love to hear from you!

I have been to Glacier National Park. Montana is my original home!! It’s gorgeous in Glacier, and so much area to cover. You have to go in the Summer when Going the Sun Road is open. the scariest drive ever, unfortunately RV’s aren’t allowed on the road, but it’s absolutely breath taking!! I am doing a trail run through Zion national park the weekend after Boston for Ragnar Relay, and excited to see some amazing views. I have always wanted to go to Banff!! My friend honeymooned there, and ever since then I have wanted to go visit and hike. I should definitely hit up the Cascades now that I live in Washington.

Thanks for the tips Bryanna! I bet it’s absolutely beautiful in Glacier! I really hope to visit one day… I hear you can only really visit in the Summer. Really interested in hearing what you think of Zion! We are going to Park City for a wedding in September, and I hope to explore Zion the week before. I am jealous you live in Washington… I feel like I would love it there, but it’s too far from my family in Massachusetts.

Yes to Zion! I’d love to hike there one day, too.
I’ve been to Banff many times, and my hubby lived there for a while! The Alberta Rockies are amazing! If you do come this far, I highly recommend going to Jasper National Park, too! It’s my personal favourite place to hike and it’s a more laid back town than Banff.
You can easily go to both, and the highway you take to go from one to the other is easily one of the most scenic rides in the world. It’s on my bucket list to cycle!

I really hope I can get to Banff one day! I will definitely make note of Jasper Nat’l Park. Alberta seems like an unbelievable place to visit (and live)… I am very jealous!! Oh and cycling there, would be amazing!! We actually might get to Zion in September when we attend a wedding in Utah.
