I am back to blogging after a week’s vacation in the Florida Keys! Wow, did I need that vacation. This winter has been god-awful in Antarctica (I mean Boston), and was in serious need of Vitamin D! I have been going down to the Keys since I was about 3 years old. I consider it to be my home away from home. My husband Todd and I stayed with my parents for the week and it was a blast!
As I mentioned this post prior to vacation, I am not one to sit on a beach all day. Therefore, we found lots of things to do; from Kayaking to walking the 7 mile bridge and trying Stand Up Paddleboarding for the first time (loved it!). Each day, the morning/early afternoon was spent being active and enjoying the sights around us. At around 3 PM each day we went to the small private beach down the street and would lay in the sun for an hour or two. The beach is called ‘Inch Beach’ how cute is that? Lucky for us, a family friend owns ‘and inch’ of the beach and we got to use her beach pass! I found late afternoon to be the perfect time of day to be on the beach! The sun was less strong and the beach was less crowded… a win-win in my book! After our beach time we would head back to my parents place and have a little happy hour/appetizers before going to dinner. For those of your who have never been to the Keys… I like to describe it as “Caribbean-like.” It honestly doesn’t feel like you are in Florida, or even in the US for that matter. There are so many islands to explore, the ocean water is crystal clear, life is VERY relaxed and laid back. There is nothing to worry about in the Keys! It was just really nice to just shut down from work and every day fast-paced life in Boston for a whole week. As hard as it was coming back to the freezing cold, I enjoy being back in my regular routine!
Here are some of my favorite photos from vacation. I will follow up with a separate post this week with all of the ‘active’ things we did while down in the Keys!
